PORT COLUMBUS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Additionally, residents near Port Columbus International Airport should know the environmental hazards the main airport of Columbus has put forth. In the last twelve quarters, the airport has been in violation for the first, the third, and the tenth quarter in accordance to the Clean Water Act (CWA). Over the last three years, they have been in noncompliance for all pollutants, dissolved Oxygen, and pH. Currently however, they are in “No Violation”. On the contrary, the airport has been in “Noncompliance” according to the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) for the past twelve quarters (since 01/01/15) and are currently still in noncompliance. They are in violation for the Generators-General, the Generators-Records and Recording, Land Disposal Restrictions (LDR)-general, TSD-closure and post closure, TSD-general, and TSD IS-ground water monitoring. According to the EPA, there are no records on any informal or formal enforcement actions within the last five years to do anything about these violations. In addition, the airport is in a non-attainment area for the ozone and particulate matter in relation to the air quality.[1]
